New signings are starting to raise the optimism at Hereford Lads Club, ahead of the Hellenic League Premier Division season, which starts on Tuesday 1st August.

Manager Danny Moon has been working hard throughout the summer, to add numbers to his squad, with a number of new arrivals. There has also been an emphasis at the club, to develop a pathway from junior football, to first team football. This has been highlighted by a number of players progressing this summer to the first team, including 16-year-olds Jude Cook and Jack Mayo-Evans. Jack Mayo-Evans linked up with the first team last season and impressed in a number of games.

The club suffered a disappointing second half of the Hellenic Premier Division last season and narrowly avoided relegation, but plenty of work has taken place over the summer to improve things this season.

Promising signings, such as midfielder Kieran Dovey from Ludlow, alongside others such as former Malvern and Westfields left sided player Sam Hunt and highly rated, former Cheltenham Town stopper Ross Grimshaw, give plenty of reason for optimism.

Other new signings include Cameron Marsh, Sam Judge, Matt James, Josh Bull, Morgan Millard, Drew Heffernan, Billy Rosser and Ashley Lear.

In addition to this, keeping players such as Brandon Jennings, Tom Dawson, Jamie Cuthbertson, Zac Sirrell, Levi Ellis, Sam Plane, Rob Whitlock and James Hancocks, means that the strength in depth is certainly there.

The side put in a brilliant performance in the opening 45 minutes of their pre season friendly against Cribbs, who were promoted as champions from the Hellenic Premier Division last season, before the visitors scored three goals in the second period, following a number of changes being made by Lads Club.

Lads Club face a tough start to the season, with a visit to city rivals Hereford Pegasus on the opening night of the season (1st August), before travelling to Shifnal Town in the FA Cup (5th August) and then away to Worcester Raiders (9th August).
