Former Hereford United defender Darren Jones has become assistant 1st team manager at Hellenic Premier League side Westfields.

A statement on the Westfields Facebook page said

“We are delighted to welcome into the club new assistant 1st team manager Darren Jones👏👏

A former professional with over 400 league appearances under his belt Darren brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club working alongside manager Nick Morgan, coach Danny Elliott and physio Tiago following the recent departure of John Haycox.

He will be no stranger to Hereford United supporters having played 40 games during his career at Edgar Street in the 2009-2010 season⚽️

On his appointment manager Nick Morgan had the following to say “Darren is someone I have been trying to get in with me at Westfields for the last few months, he is a born leader and motivator with over 400 professional appearances as a player.

He has experience of playing for Hereford when they were in the football league and knows how much football means to the people of the city.

We have been close friends for over 10 years and worked together whilst we were both at Newport County.

He is someone I can trust and will help me become a better manager and leader.

Absolutely delighted to have someone like Darren next to me in the Dugout”

He certainly had a good start Saturday watching his 1st game which resulted in a 5-0 win.
