Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are back online tonight following a six hour long global outage, that saw 1.5 billion users affected worldwide at its peak.

The outage led to people switching over to other social networks, with a huge influx of users heading to Twitter, leading to temporary issues on the platform.

Facebook is expected to release a statement in response to the outage in the coming hours.
