Work to transform part of Herefordshire Council’s Plough Lane offices into family and child friendly meeting spaces have been completed with the new rooms now up and running.

The rooms have been transformed for families who are meeting children’s services care and support staff and a dedicated entrance to the building has also been created so families can access the new area directly without having to go through the main reception area.

The new facilities are part of the council’s ongoing improvement plan to transform children’s services and drive forward improvements.

Councillor Ivan Powell, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:

“The transformation of this space for the use of families who are coming in to attend meetings is an example of the wide ranging and dynamic programme of activity well underway to improve our services for children and young people.

“We know it is critically important that we serve families better in Herefordshire and it is vital we provide a private area where residents can attend child protection conferences and meet with our social care teams and other professionals in family-friendly spaces which are welcoming and comfortable.

“The rooms are now fully operational and already being used by our teams and our key partners, along with the children and families they are supporting.”
