West Mercia Police say that they are aware of a recent spike in bike thefts in Hereford city and officers are looking for solutions to help crackdown on the issue.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:

“We have seen a spike in Bike Thefts across Hereford City in the last 2 weeks. We are looking at ways in which we can help to tackle this but in the meantime we will be running some “pop up” Bike Marking Events On Thursday 17th Feb

“Hereford Northside SNT will be at: Chiltern Square 1400-1500 and Hereford Leisure Centre 1830-1930

“We will be using the Smart Water system which is brilliant for returning recovered Stolen Bikes back to their proper owners.

“If you are leaving your pushbike in and around the City Centre please always remember to lock it up using a secure and reputable lock (such as a D Lock) and keep some photos and the Frame number in case of the worst so you can report it to us.”
