Scheme has been sensitively designed with biodiversity gains via landscaping proposals.
Public consultation event to take place in Ledbury at Burgage Hall, Tuesday 25th June, 3-7pm.
Lidl GB has launched a public consultation regarding fresh proposals for a mixed-use development including a newdiscount foodstore, medical centre, and children’s nursery in Ledbury.
This scheme would deliver increased and affordable shopping choice for residents, a new nursery for families, and a much-needed medical centre to serve the community. New jobs would be created across healthcare, childcare, and the foodstore, providing a range of opportunities for local people.
The Lidl store would create up to 40 new jobs with employees receiving one of the highest pay rates in the sector.
Accessed from Dymock Road and adjacent to Leadon Way, the proposals include significant landscaping and tree planting to enhance greenery and biodiversity on the site, as well as ample parking spaces including EV charging points and cycle parking.
Lidl’s store proposal is its newest and most sustainable store format, including the company’s popular in-store bakery and providing customer toilets.
The new plans follow a new retail capacity study completed by Herefordshire Council which demonstrates increased local need for an affordable supermarket option.
Lidl has launched this public consultation to gain feedback on their proposals. Residents are invited to attend a public consultation event on Tuesday 25th June at Burgage Hall, Church Lane, Ledbury, HR8 1DW, 3pm-7pm.
Residents will be able to speak with the project team, review consultation materials, and have their say by completing a feedback form. For anyone unable to attend, Lidl’s consultation website is: https://ledbury.newsite.lidl.co.uk/.
George Ledward, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB commented: “This mixed-use development would provide a range benefits for Ledbury residents including access to our high-quality products at best value, a much-needed new medical centre, and a children’s nursery.
“We have carefully designed the proposals to provide significant landscaping improvements, so the overall site can be a positive addition to the local area.
“We believe the need for this development has only increased in recent years, and we look forward to discussing our proposal with residents at our public consultation event”.
Following public consultation, a planning application will be submitted to Herefordshire Council for determination.
