Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to a large fuel spill on the A465 (Hereford to Abergavenny Road) earlier this afternoon.
The fuel spill occurred near the entrance to Pontrilas Sawmills, close to the England / Wales border.
West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the incident.
The road is now open.
A spokesperson for Ewyas Harold Fire Station (Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service) said:
“We attended an incident located near the Saw Mills on the A465.
“Along side an ambulance from West Midlands Ambulance Service to make sure the driver of the vehicle was fine and had sustained no injuries.
“Other crews were also mobilised to the incident but were stood down as no further emergency services were required.
“The crew from 472 along with some very welcomed assistance from the staff of the Saw Mills covered the fuel spill using saw dust.
“All drains were blocked preventing the fuel run off from entering the water system. A HRJ was deployed as a safety measure.
“Highway Maintenance attended the scene and the remaining debris on the side of the road has been left in the care of the Environmental Agency.”
