Alex Knowles from Hereford will be taking part in three ultra marathons in 2025.
He told Your Herefordshire.
“In 2025, I am taking on the ultimate test of endurance and resilience—a journey that will push the limits of physical strength and mental fortitude. I will be running three ultra-marathons over three consecutive months, covering a staggering 130 miles and climbing an elevation of 16,890 feet. To put that into perspective, that’s the height of 21 Empire State Buildings stacked together.
This challenge is more than just a personal goal; it’s a call to action. It’s about raising awareness, creating conversations, and supporting men who struggle with their mental health. Inspired by my personal mantra, “Project Possible,” I dedicate this endeavour to Andy’s Man Club, a charity that offers men a safe space to share, connect, and heal.
About Andy’s Man Club:
Andy’s Man Club is a pioneering charity that provides free-to-attend talking groups for men across the UK. Founded in 2016, the organisation was born from a tragedy—the loss of Andy Roberts to suicide at just 23 years old. Andy’s Man Club strives to break the stigma around men’s mental health, offering a safe, supportive space where men can talk openly about their struggles without judgment. With the mantra “It’s OK to Talk,” the charity has grown into a lifeline for thousands of men, helping them find hope and connection during their darkest times. By fostering an environment of understanding and solidarity, Andy’s Man Club is changing lives and saving lives, one conversation at a time.
A Mission for Hereford: I am making it my mission to ensure that by the time I cross the finish line of my final ultra-marathon in 2025, Hereford will have its very own Andy’s Man Club talking group. These groups are vital lifelines for men, providing a safe and supportive space to share, listen, and heal. But I’m not stopping there. My stretch goal is to establish a second group in Hereford by the end of the year, doubling the impact and ensuring more men have access to this crucial resource. Together, we can make this vision a reality and leave a legacy of hope and resilience in our community”
