HEREFORD City Rotary Club members have acknowledged the huge contribution of one of their retiring colleagues.

John Tallis stood down at the end of the last Rotary year after many years as the club’s treasurer.

But he attended a recent meeting where club president Peter Maxwell made a presentation on behalf of club members to mark John’s major efforts during his time in office.

Peter’s next two successors as club president have been named with John Taylor and Janet Bartlett serving as senior and junior vice-presidents respectively.

The club is continuing its efforts to raise funds for local, national and international charities with a race night next month.

The event will take place at Hereford Welsh Club on Friday, February 10 with the first race due off at 7.30pm.

It costs £12, which includes a curry and rice meal, to attend this fun evening.

Tickets are available from club members or by logging on to www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/rotary-charity-race-night-tickets-489609343727.

There will also be a raffle for a ‘barrowload of booze’ on the door.

Also, any businesses wishing to sponsor a race or individuals wishing to ‘buy’ a horse or a jockey, for just £5, should contact the club via their Facebook page, Hereford City Rotary Club
