Officers are appealing for witnesses after two young children were injured in a collision in Gloucester earlier this afternoon (Monday 6 February).

Police were called to St Oswalds Road shortly before 3.55pm following a report of a collision involving two children and a grey Renault van.

The incident took place near to St Oswalds Retail Park and resulted in a road closure.

One child has been taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with serious injuries and the second has been taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

A man aged in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in connection with the incident.

Despite the arrest, officers from the Roads Policing Unit would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage and hasn‘t yet made contact.

St Oswalds Road remains closed on the stretch between the McDonalds and HomeSense roundabouts. Officers continue to ask motorists to plan their route in advance and avoid the area.
