Members of the public have taken to social media this morning to share their frustration after discovering that Hereford’s COVID-19 testing centre at Merton Meadow was closed today, due to snow.

Those that had booked tests arrived at the site to be greeted with a small hand written sign stating that the site was closed and that those attending should rebook.

This has led to a backlash on social media, with some people sharing their anger after travelling from as far as Kington for a test.

Guy Cooke said: “The smallest bit of snow and they close the testing centre, absolutely embarrassing.”

Hazel Santry said: “Seriously frustrating for those who have left their house for nothing, particularly if they’re more at risk. Snow effects travel to work I get that, but there should’ve been some sort of communication to those who were booked today to inform them of a cancellation.”

Adrian Herbert said: “Tiny bit of snow and this country grinds to a halt. Let’s hope it doesn’t affect the vaccinations.”

The nearest COVID-19 testing centre that is open today is believed to be in Gloucester.
