Hereford Pegasus kick off their Hellenic League Division One West season this Saturday with a tough fixture away at Malvern Town. We caught up with Mike Burgess of Pegasus to ask him a few questions ahead of this weekends fixture.

YH: New season, same optimism? Great season last year for a Pegasus. Are you confident that the club can push on to gain promotion?

MB: Yes, same optimism. We will be going into every match looking to win it and with the lessons we’ve learned from last season promotion is a minimum target for us.

YH: With fans now allowed back in to watch games at this level, how much of a boost does that give you?

MB: Having spectators at the games definitely motivates us a lot, especially in the games against the other local teams.

YH: Malvern presents a very tough test. Are you confident you can go there and get a result?

MB: Yeah Malvern will be a very tough test and there’s no doubt they will have a strong squad again this season. However We have some serious quality in our team and we will be going there very confident in picking up a result.

YH: Which player in your squad do you predict to impress this season?

MB: We’ve signed Cam Peters this summer who has played at a very high level. I’ve been promised he will get us 30+ goals this season so let’s see if he does! I’m expecting our Portuguese playmaker Carlos Moreira to step up with some big performances this season as well.

YH: Who’s the biggest joker at the club?

MB: Other than myself, I’d have to say Zac Sirrell. He’s a funny lad, when he’s actually here and not on camping trips!
