We caught up with Westfields FC defender Joel Edwards ahead of Westfields FA Cup tie against Brocton this evening. Edwards rejoined fields this summer from Cardiff Met and is looking forward to the season.
YH: How have you settled in since rejoining fields?
JE: I feel I’ve settled in really well since rejoining. The lads & management have been very welcoming.
YH: We watched your match at Pegasus the other night. Aidan Thomas went off injured. How is he? Will he be a big loss if out for a lengthy period?
JE: Yes Aidan’s injury will definitely be a big loss as he is a key player, but we have good depth in the squad and have lads that can step up when needed.
YH: Phil Glover and his side were harshly denied a well deserved promotion last season. Are you confident the side can push on to achieve promotion this season?
JE: Yes having being unfortunately denied It last season I feel the team will push even harder to achieve promotion this time around.
YH: As a player, are you pleased that supporters can now attend matches at allpay park again?
JE: Yes football without fans just isn’t the same! We would love as many people as possible to come down and support us down at allpay this season and make good use of the superb facilities that we now have.
YH: Who are you backing to be fields surprise package this season?
JE: I feel we have strength all over the pitch, everyone has looked sharp during preseason & we’ve still have key players missing through injury so we’re only going to get stronger as they return.
