Hereford FC are set to receive a much needed financial boost when they host former Premier League side Portsmouth at Edgar Street in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup.

With a sell-out crowd almost guaranteed, as well as additional hospitality options and the possibility of tv coverage, it could be a good payday for the Bulls, which is much needed with the current cost of living crisis affecting football clubs across the country.

Josh Gowling’s side earned their place in the First Round Proper by beating higher grades opponents Bromley 2-1 on Saturday.

Your Herefordshire reporter Stefan joined supporters and staff members from the club in watching the draw last night at Edgar Street. When the Bulls were drawn out against Portsmouth, a cheer swept around the room. A buzz of excitement then quickly made its way to social media.

A proper cup fixture, hopefully with tv coverage. It’s what Hereford is all about.

So Hereford fans, get that ground full, get the atmosphere bouncing and who knows? Perhaps this Hereford side can make a name for itself in the history books.

More details on ticketing arrangements are likely to be made over the coming days.
