It was a memorable weekend for Hereford FC and manager Josh Gowling, with the club progressing to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup after a 2-1 victory away at National League side Bromley.

The Bulls took the lead through a wonderful free kick from Harry Pinchard. Bromley however, equalised before the Bulls grabbed the all-important winner to put themselves in the hat for the First Round draw that takes place on BBC One at 7.15pm this evening.

The victory will provide a huge financial boost for the Bulls, especially if the club was to draw a football league side such as Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County or Ipswich Town in the next round. Although, we are sure some fans would like a tie against the likes of Shrewsbury Town or Bristol Rovers!

Hereford FC Chairman Jon Hale was delighted with the victory. He spoke to the official club website and said:

“We secured a fantastic win at higher-graded opponents and I want to congratulate Josh, Yan, the backroom staff and, of course, the players for pulling off another Cup shock when no-one gave us a chance.

“I also want to thank our magnificent supporters who turned out in big numbers once again to show their total support for the club and our players.

“We are blessed as a club to have such committed and passionate supporters, and I cannot thank you all enough, as I know the majority of you will have travelled a great distance to be there.

“The scenes at the end of the celebrations between players and fans just reaffirms the magic the FA Cup can bring.

“We await Monday evening’s draw with much anticipation, but the very fact we are now in the pot with League One and Two clubs is a mark of what Josh and his players are achieving, coming on the back of a great run in the League too.

“We keep pushing on together and whatever the draw may present us with, I know you will all be right behind us, in big numbers, and that is what makes this club great.”

Supporters are invited to watch the draw for the First Round Proper in the Executive Suite at Edgar Street this evening. Doors open at 6.30pm, with the draw expected to take place between 7pm-7.15pm.

Elsewhere on Saturday, our other local sides didn’t have as good a day at the office. Hereford Pegasus were convincingly beaten 6-0 away at high flying Cribbs, bringing a fantastic unbeaten run to an end. Westfields were held to a frustrating draw away at struggling Thornbury and Hereford Lads Club were beaten 3-1 at home by Corsham Town.
