As is always the case, it’s only when I sit down to write one of these that I realise just how busy things have been at the SSAFA County Ground. I’ve always found it really useful to pause and reflect on progress however and am looking forward to doing so bi-monthly, for Your Herefordshire.

As I look out of the window at the sun shining, it is easy to forget it wasn’t too long ago that we were experiencing severe difficulties due to the weather, with thousands of players unable to play for several weeks running. As is always the case, we are indebted to the hard work of the volunteers whoare essential to the game and I only hope the re-arranged fixtures will not cause too many headaches.

We are currently looking to the end of the season and will shortly be confirming the dates for our County Cup finals, supported this year by Avara Foods. As in recent years, we will be running a number of these at the SSAFA County Ground, with the senior Men’s, Women’s and U18 Giantkillers finals again being at Edgar Street, thanks to Hereford FC. These events are always fantastic and I’m sure they will be well supported as usual.

We continue to run a number of key activities and have recently launched a project aimed at supporting the Ukrainian community, thanks to support from Herefordshire Council. This has got off to a great start and we are really looking forward to helping this group feel even more integrated into life in the County.

As is always the case, I have run out of time to mention other key projects such as being awarded Emerging Talent Centre status by the FA for the HFA Hereford FC Development Centre, releasing results from our first ever all-game survey and a competition for a Club to win a makeover in partnership with Ewe Move and Avara. I may have to reconsider the agreed word count at this rate!

As always, we are here to support the game and our team are always available on info@herefordshirefa.com, on the phone or in person at the SSAFA County Ground.
