One of the greatest football giantkilling acts took place on the 5th February 1972. Ronnie Radford’s famous goal paved the way for Ricky George to score the winner in extra time.

The footage below includes the extended highlights of the replay at Edgar Street, Ronnie Radford’s famous goal from another angle, the 25 year reunion in 1997 held at the Three Counties Hotel, plus the then Chairman’s Peter Hill’s amusing speech which he made that evening.

The original match ended 2-2 at St James Park, it was back to Edgar Street for the replay. Malcolm MacDonald put the visitors ahead on 82 minutes, but three minutes later Ronnie Radford scored one of the greatest goals ever. The match went into to extra time and Ricky George scored the winner.
