Over 100 people have been killed and thousands injured after an explosion that the Lebanon’s Prime Minister is saying was caused by 2,700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate that had been left unsecured in the port for six years.
Videos of the explosion quickly emerged on social media, with footage later showing devastated streets and hospitals unable to cope with the large number of casualties.
President of the United States Donald Trump caused controversy by stating that his team believed the blast was caused by a bomb attack – something that he refused to provide any evidence on.
