UPDATE | Unfortunately Gizmo’s owners have had to put him to sleep. He had brain damage, a bruised lung, neuro damage and was bleeding internally. His owners said that he would have gone brain dead and suffered had he been left. They are devastated. It was caused by the impact from the car when he was trying to get away after being shot, aswell as the trauma that the being shot caused him..

A Herefordshire cat owner has taken to social media to warn residents after vets told her that they believe her cat was shot by an air rifle.

Shannon Coe posted the following on the Withington Folk messageboard yesterday evening:

“Just so people are aware. This morning our cat was hit by a car on the Worcester road. Turns out he had been shot by an air rifle multiple times and the vet suspects he’s been used as “target practice” and then was scared and ran straight into the road to get away where he was then hit.

“It’s a miracle he is still here now but we aren’t out of the woods yet. My cats will now be house cats. It’s absolutely vile. Please look after and watch out for your kitties.”
