Known by all as “JR”, John Rone will be celebrating his 80th birthday today with all his family.
Having been involved in the building trade since the mid 1950s he can recount stories of rural Essex life where he grew up and met and married Jean in the early 1960s.
They moved to Herefordshire by chance in the early 1970s after dropping a pin in the map of England and Wales – within weeks they had bought a Manor House in Wormelow and were living the good life of growing their own.
Along with his sons, he entered the pub trade In the early 90s and discovered a natural talent as barman in the Treacle Mine where on selected lunchtimes, as long as all his mates were in there, the pub stayed open all day…..
A great character, a fantastic Dad and Grandad. Loved by all that know him. Happy Birthday JR.
