The woman who defaced the Sir Captain Tom Moore statue by pouring human waste over it has avoided prison, after pleading guilty to causing criminal damage.

Madeleine Budd received a 21 week prison term, suspended for 18 months after she apologised to his family.

Madeleine Budd of Kedleston Avenue, Manchester, was originally arrested by the Metropolitan Police on Sunday 2nd October and was subsequently charged with criminal damage.

Your Herefordshire understands that Madeleine has connections in the Hereford area and has also campaigned on behalf of Extinction Rebellion.

The arrest came after a memorial for Sir Captain Tom Moore was allegedly defaced at Thistley Meadow in Hatton, south Derbyshire.

There was a huge public outcry with many people demanding that Madeleine should be forced to clear up the mess and that significant action should be taken.

Madeleine appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on earlier this week.
