A woman was taken to hospital in Bristol after a serious collision on the M50 earlier today.

West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance were all called to the M50, near the junction with the M5 at just before midday.

Several miles of tailbacks were reported but the road has since reopened.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service told Your Herefordshire:

“We were called at 11.38am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry on the M50 between junctions 1 and 2.

“Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman and a man who were the driver and passenger from the car

“The driver had potentially serious injuries. She received treatment before being conveyed to South Mead Bristol Hospital via land ambulance.

“The passenger had sustained minor injuries. He received self care advice and was discharged at the scene.”
