West Mercia Police have conducted a day of action in Leominster today with one vehicle seized for no insurance.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police (Leominster Safer Neighbourhood Team) said:
Leominster Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) with the support of their neighbouring SNT’s Bromyard and Kington, have conducted a day of action in the Leominster community. Emphasis was placed on the road networks and community engagement.
This has resulted in 8 traffic offence reports being issued along with many more motorists being given suitable words of advice. The offences ranged from not wearing seatbelts, to speeding offences. The police camera van was also out in our rural communities to assist with speed control.
Members of the Youth engagement team carried out visits to our local schools to address concerns from our younger communities and our licensing officer carried out visits throughout the day to licensed premises to ensure all was in order.
We also worked alongside Trading Standards to complete a leaflet drop to some of our more vulnerable community members about cold callers, frauds and scams. We also welcomed support from the civil enforcement team at Herefordshire Council for parking related matters.
The community contact van (mobile police station) was present in Leominster town centre and later in the day visited in Wigmore and Leintwardine. Many of you came to say hello, which gave us a great opportunity to meet you and assist with your reports and local enquiries. Many of you have also signed up to our messenger service Neighbourhood Matters. If you haven’t yet please visit https://neighbourhoodmatters.co.uk/ and sign up now!
If you weren’t able to get to see us today, please contact a member of the team here at Leominster on leominster.snt@westmercia.police.uk to discuss any local policing concerns, or keep an eye on these pages for local policing events if you would like to speak to us in person.
A team photo of those involved in the day is attached, along with a picture of one of the positive results of the day for the road safety aspect, which is a vehicle being seized for not having any insurance.
