Former Hereford United Director and one of the original five Hereford FC Benefactors Michael Roberts has sadly passed away. He was 76 years old. Roberts was also Chairman of the electrical company CF Roberts.
Close friend and former Hereford United Chairman Peter Hill paid tribute to Roberts tonight.
Hill told Your Herefordshire “We knew each other from school and we joined the board at Edgar Street roughly the same time. He helped us a lot on the commercial side”
The Hill and Roberts partnership extended away from Hereford United. Hill added “We were partners at Saxtys in Widemarsh Street when it opened, and alongside Terry Court owned a racehorse which ran in the 1989 Grand National called Dixton House. We enjoyed our time at Edgar Street, and celebrated the Welsh Cup win at Cardiff Arms Park in 1990”
“Michael was a lovely, kind and loyal man, and will be sadly missed”

Back in 2015 when Hereford FC was formed, Roberts was part of the five benefactors who individually invested £50,000 into the club, which helped convince Herefordshire council that the new team had plenty of backing.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
