A scene guard is in place at an address in Gloucester following the death of a man which is being treated as suspicious.

Police were called to Clare Street at 1.45pm on Wednesday (29 September) after concerns had been raised for the welfare of a resident. Upon attendance a man aged in his 50s was found deceased within a property. The Coroner’s Office and the man’s family are aware. Officers from the Constabulary’s Major Crime Investigation Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Detective Chief Inspector John Turner said: “Our detectives are working hard to piece together what has happened and we appreciate that the local community may be concerned by this.

“Searches will be taking place in the area over the coming days which will result in an enhanced police presence and so people will see more police in the surrounding area.

“Anyone who has any information which they feel may be relevant to the ongoing inquiry is urged to please come forward and contact us.

“Investigating officers are appealing for information in connection with the incident and anyone who may be able to assist is asked to contact police.
