Hereford Pride started in early 2021 to give the Hereford LGBTQ+ community a place to celebrate together.

From the Hereford Pride website:

“We are a diverse group of people who meet-up on Fridays at Babar CafĂ© & Bar (HR1 2BT) to discuss and plan how to actually put on a Pride in Hereford in such a short time and not much cash. But it is not all boring committee business – some meet beforehand at a coffee shop for a chat and lots of us will go for a drink together into the evening.

“Pride is not just a one-off day but about building community, creating a safe space and making friends. Everyone is welcome. Please come and join us – no pressure to do anything or say anything it will just be nice to have you with us.”

Hereford Pride opens at 11am today at The Courtyard Hereford on Edgar Street. You can browse the info and craft stalls, check in at one of the workshops or get your face painted!

At midday, Mayor of Hereford Paul Stevens will formally open Hereford Pride, together with the wonderful host for the day, the current Miss Drag UK, the fabulous, Boo la croux!

There will be bands, acts, a magician, poetry, panel-discussion on Sexuality & Faith, LGBT+ community and Trans parenting. Acoustic acts will also be playing in the bar. Plus an open poetry session if that’s your thing!

For the rest, there’s gonna be a Post-Pride Party at the very supportive Babar Cafe on Union Street (£3 advance tickets – available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/526626 OR £5 on the door) from 7pm until late. With LGBTQ+ disco hits to dance the night away! 🎶 (FYI – After party is for over 18’s only) For more information, visit: www.herefordpride.org
