From Ross-on-Wye Town Council:

This annual award highlights the exceptional contributions of individuals and organisations whose dedication to improving the lives of residents in Ross- on-Wye serves as an inspiration to all.

At the Annual Town Meeting on April 28th, 2025, the inaugural Kyrle Civic Award was presented by Councillor Ed O’Driscoll to Annie Fisher from @The Hub, an organisation that has profoundly impacted the community through its compassionate and transformative work.

Quotes from the nominations emphasised the significance of @The Hub’s contribution:

• “What a fantastic asset to our town. A place for people that may not have a place to go to be part of community, to learn new skills, to get support. I cannot think of a more worthy winner.”

• “They have supported my family and myself no end with food, comfort, a safe place to be, alongside moral and community spirit.”

Comments from the independent panel, who chose the winner, further celebrated @The Hub’s achievements:

• “This is a local Community Project run by local people for local people with the aim of helping and improving lives within the community. Being local means that genuine connections are made, allowing staff @The Hub to truly advocate on behalf of vulnerable people who often don’t have a voice or find engagement in a modern world difficult to do.”

• “Supporting marginalised people is particularly powerful, as these are the very people most missed out by statutory services. Having an organisation that will pick up the pieces and offer a link into statutory services, such as help with benefits forms or arranging an appointment, is a crucial intervention that reduces health inequity.”
