Boris Johnson has once again stressed the importance of getting students back to school in September, raising the possibility that pubs, restaurants, or even shops may have to close to allow this to take place.
Scientists have said that they believe that we may have to sacrifice something, in order for schools to return, with pubs and restaurants mentioned.
The Prime Minister said in an article for a newspaper that education is crucial for children’s welfare and future and that it was the responsibility of us all to ensure that classrooms are full again.
Mr Johnson added:
“Keeping our schools closed a moment longer than absolutely necessary is socially intolerable, economically unsustainable and morally indefensible.”
“This pandemic isn’t over, and the last thing any of us can afford to do is become complacent. But now that we know enough to reopen schools to all pupils safely, we have a moral duty to do so.”
