Police have released an e-fit of a man they would like to identify in connection with two separate assaults on a woman in Gloucester.

The first incident happened on Pippin Close in Abbeymead at around 1pm on Saturday 13 April.

A man had approached a woman in the street and began to verbally abuse her. He then attempted to hit her, but the woman managed to avoid the attack.

The suspect, who is not known to the victim, then walked off in the direction of Lobleys Drive.

She saw the man a short time later in Brockworth, where he again began to verbally abuse her.

The second incident happened on James Grieve Road in Abbeymead at around 10.15am on Tuesday 16 April.

On this occasion the same man has approached the same victim from behind and assaulted her with an unknown item to the face. He attempted to hit her a second time but the woman was able to run off.

As a result of the second assault, the woman is now awaiting surgery for an injury to her eye.

Officers looking to identify the man have now released an e-fit of the person they would like to speak to in connection with the two incidents.

He is described as being a white man in his 60s, of a medium height and stocky build, with short grey hair. On both occasions he was wearing a blue top and black jeans and was carrying a rucksack. He spoke with a local accent.

On the second occasion, he was with a younger man who is described as being white, in his 30s and wearing a hat. His mouth and nose were hidden by a face covering.
