West Mercia Police have issued a message to local residents after reports of illegal and inconsiderate parking outside a primary school in Herefordshire.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police issued the following message this morning:
“We are working hard to tackle your parking concerns in Fownhope.
“Inconsiderate or illegal parking can put pedestrians and other road users in danger. It can also create an obstruction for emergency vehicles.
“While some enforcement activity is carried out jointly with partners, Herefordshire Council employ parking enforcement officers to assist with these issues. But often problems can be resolved through raising awareness of the impact or consequences or other practical measures.
“Following reports of vehicles parking on yellow zig-zag lines outside St Mary’s School, Fownhope we have deployed our mini PC’s to remind parents to park considerately. We will be carrying out patrols in the area and reminding parents that they risk getting a fine if they fail to comply with the appropriate road markings.

“Many thanks for your help and support. It is only by the police and the public working together that we can effectively both prevent and detect crime and keep our communities safe.”
