West Mercia Police have issued a crime alert following an incident involving a tarmac firm at a farm in Herefordshire.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said:

“We have received a report of a tarmac company attending a farm in Michaelchurch Escley who have not followed the correct procedure in terms of offering a quote for work prior to that work being carried out and not offering a cooling off period to the person concerned.

“Traders must give consumers contracts which explain their rights to cancel and contain a detachable form. The contents and wording of these must comply with the regulations.

“Traders who do not comply with the regulations cannot enforce their contracts and they will be committing a criminal offence which will be investigated by the Trading Standards Service.”
