From Gloucestershire Constabulary:
We’re appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a serious injury collision which took place on the #M5 last week.
We were called at around 11.55pm on Tuesday (4 October) following reports of a collision on the southbound carriageway between junctions eight for Worcester and nine for Tewkesbury.
The collision involved four vehicles; a green Mini hatchback, white Vauxhall Astra and two HGVs.
It was stated that one of the vehicles was driving the wrong way along the carriageway prior to the collision taking place with investigations into this continuing.
The driver of the green Mini sustained broken ribs and heaving bruising, the driver of the Astra sustained a broken arm and the front seat passenger sustained severe bruising.
All three were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries and have since been discharged. The drivers of the two HGVs were not injured.
One of the motorists was breathalysed at the scene and found to be over the prescribed limit of alcohol. They were not arrested at the time due to needing medical attention so the matter will be dealt with in due course.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam of the Mini being driven in the lead up to the collision.
