West Mercia Police is investigating the attempted murder of a 72 year old woman in Quay Street, Worcester, in the early hours of this morning.
The victim suffered multiple stab wounds shortly after 2am and has been taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
She is in a critical condition.
A 56 year old male is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder.
Quay Street is currently blocked off by officers as a crime scene.
