Changes to a number of projects, including the Hereford Masterplan, are likely, due to a change in councillors at Herefordshire Council.

A lot comes down to whether any political groups form a coalition over the coming weeks to take control of the council. The Conservatives sit in the strongest position to do this, with 21 councillors. 27 councillors are required to control Herefordshire Council.

The Masterplan includes plans for a cycle lane on Commercial Road and Aylestone Hill, the closure of six car parks to create space for housing and green spaces, as well as people-friendly streets and other measures.

The Green Party, who’s coalition with the Independents for Herefordshire group, developed the Hereford Draft Masterplan and are likely to want to push ahead with progressing some of the projects.

Whatever happens, it’s set to be a very interesting few weeks and months in Herefordshire politics.
