Officers in Redditch are warning motorists to make sure their vehicles are insured correctly after a driver had their car seized on Saturday 6 January.
PC Ryan Clarke pulled over the motorist due to their car being flagged as not insured at around 9pm on the Alvechurch Highway.
When stopping the vehicle in the Abbey Retail car park and speaking with the driver, they claimed they had day insurance and that the vehicle had only been driven on that day only.
However, when PC Clarke checked the relevant systems, it transpired that the vehicle had been driven for the past three months with no insurance.
The driver was challenged and then admitted this was the case under caution. His vehicle was seized, and a traffic offence report was issued resulting in a fine and six points on their licence.
PC Clarke said: “West Mercia Police will always prosecute uninsured drivers – not only do they put other members of the public at risk, but they are also a contributing factor to high insurance rates for everyone.
“If you can’t insure it, don’t drive it.”
