The Wyeside Project has commenced work on enhancing the riverside area in the vicinity of Hereford Rugby Club. This has included a partnership with the police safer streets initiative.
Steve Taylor, Wyeside Project Director, says ‘we are delighted that we are finally putting spade to ground and already delivering a safer and more secure environment for the wider public and tourists in and around the riverside area.’
Two CCTV s cameras have been installed and the area along the path cleared of obstructing overhanging branches.
This allows full line of sight security and safety coverage of both the Southside bank and Northside banks between the Great Western bridge and the Greyfriars bridge.
This representsdelivery of phase one of the Wyeside project, one of a number of projects funded by the Government’s Stronger Towns Fund allocated to Hereford.
The Wyeside project is a collaboration between Hereford Sea Cadets, Hereford Rowing Club, Hereford Rugby Club and The Left Bank Koffie Pot.
Situated on the banks of the River Wye, an area of natural beauty, the aim is to open up the river environment, enable greater access to sport for all, build safer commuter links on the north and south side banks of the city communities and encourage entrepreneurs to utilise the area in Hereford and the wider county.
