National Highways have shared a major update on the ongoing roadworks and work on the A40 on the Herefordshire / Wales border following a landslide.
In an update, National Highways said:
“Our work to install the permanent engineering solution to the rockfall at Leys Bend will begin on the week commencing 4 August 2025.
“Following completion of extensive surveys along the A40 slope on the Herefordshire-Monmouthshire border, our team of specialists will stabilise the hillside using steel bolts and mesh in the rockfall-affected area.
“Due to the complex nature of the design and the work involved, we expect to complete construction this winter, with the contraflow remaining in place on the A40.
“During this time, our 24/7 free recovery service will continue to operate.
“We’ll be holding public information events in September where you can talk to members of the project team and find out more about the permanent solution we’ll be putting in place. We’ll provide further updates in due course.
“We’d like to thank you for your continued patience while this work is carried out.”
