Mayor of Hereford, Cllr Mark Dykes, visited The Little Princess Trust, a Herefordshire charity well-known for its phenomenal work providing hair to young children who have lost their own due to illness or cancer treatments.
The Little Princess Trust provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions. Since 2006, The Little Princess Trust has provided more than 12,000 wigs and have given grants totalling more than £17 million towards research projects focussed on finding more effective treatments for childhood cancers. They even received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2012.
Professor Pamela Kearns, President of the European Society of Paediatric Oncology, said; “The Little Princess Trust’s conference centre is of national significance and demonstrates the charity’s commitment to change the lives of children with cancer. This special place acts as a catalyst for collaboration and will drive forward innovation in paediatric cancer research.”
The Little Princess Trust are striving to improve patient outcomes through access to new treatments through clinical trials as well as improving existing treatments. They work incredibly hard to identify innovative and impactful ways to improve survival and reduce the effects of treatment. Their generous volunteers and fundraisers work very hard to ensure they can continue to help even more children and young people.
The Mayor was incredibly impressed with the extraordinary work that The Little Princess Trust do, and Hereford City Council celebrate the immeasurable aid that the charity has given to children and parents across the country.
