Your Herefordshire Director Matt Healey remembers Barry.

“When I started working at the club in 2002 Barry was a friendly face in the press box. I had heard that back in 1972 he and the late Ted Woodriffe were instrumental in the media campaign to get Hereford United elected into the Football League. He was a great double act with his close friend Laurie Teague.

“Barry was working at the club until Hereford United were liquidated in 2014 and I didn’t see him after that sadly”

Speaking to Bulls News yesterday, Andy Compton paid tribute to Barry.

“I am devastated to hear the news of Barry’s passing.

“Barry gave me plenty of good advice and encouragement over the years working in opposition on the Hereford Times and latterly when he freelanced for the Hereford and Mid Wales Journals.

“We both loved Hereford United, photography and newspapers. I enjoyed his company.

“He will be sorely missed by many people.”
