It’s been a busy weekend for emergency services in Herefordshire, with West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service called out to several incidents across the county.

On Saturday evening, a man was arrested after a woman reported that she had been assaulted in Hereford yesterday evening. West Mercia Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service were called to Pomona Place in the Whitecross area of Hereford at just after 7pm on Saturday evening.

Local residents reported a significant amount of activity in the area and that it appeared to be as a result of a disturbance at flats in the area. Access to the nearby Sainsbury’s store was blocked.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told Your Herefordshire:

“Officers attended Pomona Place in relation to a report that a woman had been assaulted. She suffered minor injuries and a man has been arrested. The fire service attended as the fire alarm was activated.”

Earlier on Saturday, police officers were called to the Tupsley area of Hereford, after concerns were raised for the welfare of an individual.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police told Your Herefordshire:

“The activity at Tupsley Quarry was in relation to a call over concerns for the welfare of an individual.”

Fire crews from Leominster were called to a property in the Leominster area at 7.30am on Sunday morning, after reports that a 91 year old had fallen during the night.

Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service crews used a triple extension ladder and went through a first floor window to support West Midlands Ambulance Service in gaining access to the casualty.

In the early hours of Sunday, Police from across South Wales, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire managed to recover a number of stolen HGVS.

Police recovered the vehicles as part of a crackdown on cross border criminality.

Stingers were deployed and one vehicle was found abandoned after driving the wrong way down the M5.
