From Hereford Cathedral:
Statement from Chapter Monday 11 January
In the light of the rapid spread of the more infectious variant of COVID-19 and the vulnerability of many members of our congregation, and in line with the current public health guidance that people should stay at home, the Chapter has decided to suspend public worship until further notice. The cathedral remains open for private prayer from 11 am – 3 pm each day: the shop, café and exhibition are closed. Weddings, funerals and webcast recordings may still take place, in accordance with existing guidelines.
This decision means that, sadly, neither The Revd Nick Read’s installation as a prebendary on Sunday 17 January, nor any of the services on Sunday 31 January to mark the Dean’s retirement, will be taking place: alternative arrangements will be published in due course.
The weekly webcast of Sunday Worship, together with other spiritual resources including podcasts of archive recordings of Evensong, will continue to be made available on the cathedral website, which also offers an opportunity to make requests for prayer.
