Herefordshire’s COVID-19 infection rate is on the rise again, with an average of more than 90 cases a day being recorded between 9th-12th August.
This follows two weeks where COVID-19 cases in Herefordshire were low. A number of businesses in the county have been short of staff due to self-isolation, with Wagamama just one of the restaurants that have had to close in recent days.
From tomorrow (Monday), fully vaccinated people will no longer need to self isolate if someone they meet tests positive for COVID-19, a move that business owners and managers will be hoping eases the pressure on them and helps keep staff in work.
Herefordshire’s overall COVID-19 infection rate was 200.4 cases per 100,000 population in the seven day period ending 10th August. This is UP on the previous seven day period when the COVID-19 infection rate in the county was 138.4 cases per 100,000 population. The area with the highest COVID-19 infection rate in Herefordshire is the Hereford West area (Holmer Street, Westfaling Street, Breinton Road, Barton Road etc). In this area, a total of 33 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the seven day period ending 10th August, leaving a COVID-19 infection rate of 460 cases per 100,000 population. This significantly up on the previous seven day period when the infection rate was 223 cases per 100,000 population.
On a positive note, the number of people vaccinated in Herefordshire continues to rise, with 87% of all adults in the county having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 75.7% of adults in the county have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
