A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said:
“It’s so important to keep your flues and chimneys well swept and maintained to prevent a visit from us.
“We were called out at 9.20am today to a wood burning stove and chimney fire in Bodenham, near Leominster.
“Crews from Leominster Fire Station and Hereford Fire Station attended the heavily smoke-logged property in Bowley Lane.
“Firefighters tackled the incident with two breathing apparatus units, a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera.
“They were joined by the aerial ladder platform from Hereford which was used to remove the unsafe chimney stack and to clean the chimney with rods.
“Tactical ventilation was used to clear the smoke logging and alarms were fitted by fire service personnel.
“The final crew left the scene at 12.20pm and then Leominster firefighters returned at 3.54pm for a thorough check with a thermal imaging camera, finding no hotspots.
