A member of gardening royalty will be the star attraction at a fundraising evening for a Herefordshire charity.

Monty Don will talk guests through his life and career in horticulture during the special event at Brinsop Court on Thursday, 5th May.

Proceeds from the evening will go to Bartestree-based St Michael’s Hospice.

Those wishing to attend are urged to sign up as soon as possible, with almost half the allocated tickets snapped up within days of going on sale.

“I’m really looking forward to the evening,” said Monty, whose weekly Gardeners’ World show on BBC Two is regularly viewed by more than two million people.

“I hope people will find the event informative and fun, but most of all I hope it raises much-needed funds for St Michael’s Hospice.”

The evening will be hosted by another Herefordshire-based TV personality in Kate Bliss. She will be in conversation with Monty during the first part of the show, before Monty takes questions from the audience.

There will also be an auction with funds going to St Michael’s.
The Hospice provides free help, support and care for patients and families affected by a terminal illness across Herefordshire and beyond.

Around 74% of its annual £7.9 million costs are funded by the community.

“We’re delighted that Monty Don has agreed to take part in this event,” said Simon Kershaw, the Hospice’s Events and Community Fundraising Executive.

“For years, Monty has been renowned as the country’s voice of gardening, so to have such a star helping raise funds for St Michael’s is very exciting.

“We can’t wait to welcome him and Kate Bliss. We’re also incredibly grateful to Brinsop Court for hosting this evening in the beautiful surrounds of the recently-converted Knot Barn.”

The evening begins at 7.30pm. For tickets, click here https://www.st-michaels-hospice.org.uk/event/an-evening-with-monty-don/
