Former Hereford United defender Keith Hicks will be taking part in a 3 Points vs Cancer Challenge.
Hicks made over 200 Football League appearances for the Bulls between 1980-1985.
Keith told Your Herefordshire
“This event that will see myself, plus family take on three challenges to raise funds for Prostate Cancer research and Joe Thompson, ex-Rochdale professional footballer, battle against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
The challenges revolve around matches played by Rochdale AFC including a 7 mile run to Oldham Athletic, a 20 mile walk to Altrincham FC and a 50 mile bike ride from AFC Fylde to Rochdale AFC taking place during March and April, I think the sons, who started this idea have forgotten that I’m 70 years old now or it’s a plan to see me off”
Inspired by Joe Thompson’s legacy and their own family’s Prostate Cancer diagnosis’ members of Team Hicks – Keith, Graham, Dan, Colette and Oliver will be taking on 3 challenges over March & April, the finishing lines being at 3 Rochdale AFC matches:
Run from Rochdale AFC to Oldham Athletic AFC – 6.8 miles
Walk from Rochdale AFC to Altrincham FC – 20 miles
Cycle from AFC Fylde to Rochdale AFC – 51.9 miles
