Gardeners across Herefordshire are being warned to expect a widespread harsh frost overnight, with temperatures possibly falling as low as -2c in rural spots.

The Met Office forecast for the West Midlands overnight says:

Turning cloudy this evening. Windy and temperatures drop overnight developing a widespread harsh frost. Rain followed by wintry showers push in from the north, mostly clearing the south by dawn. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

It will come as a shock to some with today being a fairly sunny and warm day with highs of 16c.

Easter Monday will be much colder with highs of just 6c and snow showers expected in places.
