Several of Sunday’s newspapers are reporting that Prime Minister Boris Johnson will reveal details of plans for ‘vaccine passports’ in a press conference on Easter Monday.

The Prime Minister is expected to announce that we are currently still on track for a further relaxation in restrictions on 12th April and is also expected to announce details of pilot events for ‘vaccine passports’ with some going ahead as early as later this month.

The FA Cup Semi Finals and Final at Wembley, as well as a number of late night entertainment trials in Liverpool, are expected to be the first steps towards ‘vaccine passports’ that could see larger crowds allowed to attend both indoor and outdoor events.

The government is said to be considering an app similar to that being used in Israel that would have your vaccine status on it. Those who are yet to have received a COVID-19 vaccine are expected to be asked to take a COVID-19 test prior to attending events/venues and the result would then be uploaded to the app.

Mr Johnson himself is expected to name the plans as a ‘COVID status certification’ rather than ‘vaccine passports’.
