Our Talk Community team have partnered with Halo Leisure to offer a range of special community ‘thank you’ events.
Free sports, activities, refreshments, support and advice are all up for grabs to thank the community for supporting each other through the covid pandemic.
The community ‘thank you’ events will provide free access to a range of leisure and sport activities, advice on health and wellbeing, support from local community groups and some family-friendly fun activities. There will also be a free hot or cold drink for everyone who comes along.
Councillor Ange Tyler, cabinet member for housing, regulatory services and community, says:
“This is such great initiative. It gives people in Herefordshire a really healthy physical and mental break after enduring a couple of really testing years. I hope as many as possible will take advantage of this opportunity provided by Talk Community and Halo and spend some valuable time with the people they care about.”
The first event recently took place at Hereford Leisure Pool and saw hundreds of local residents attend to swim, exercise, or play, without spending a penny! There was a fantastic community feel with representatives from local organisations greeting people, whilst the little ones were entertained with face painting and balloon models.
Free activities will be taking place in the Halo centres across Herefordshire in the coming weeks.
There’s free access to gyms, classes and sports facilities and at some centres there’s the opportunity to try swimming, golf, soft play or trampolining. What is on offer is different at each centre and will be on a first come, first served basis.
Alex Haines, partnership manager at Halo Leisure, says:
“We’re looking forward to opening our centres to the local community this summer, supporting Herefordshire Council in thanking and giving back to our community for the continued support over recent challenging years.
“We have lots of free activities on offer to give people the chance to try something new and meet with local community groups offering health and wellbeing support. We hope to see local people getting involved and hope the events are beneficial in helping to get more people more active.”
Six events across the county:
3 July – Leominster Leisure Centre
24 July – Ross Swimming Pool
31 July – The Bromyard Centre
7 August – Lady Hawkins Community Leisure Centre, Kington

The events are a fantastic opportunity to get together with people in your area and build upon the community spirit that thrived throughout the covid pandemic.
