The Environment Agency has issued a Flood Warning on the River Wye between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford, with a peak level of around 5.3 metres expected in Hereford on Monday afternoon.
The Environment Agency Flood Warning for the River Wye between Hay-on-Wye and Hereford says:
“River levels are forecast to rise at the Hay-On-Wye river gauge following heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is expected from between 17:00 and 19:00 today, 20/02/22.
“We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Hay and Hereford areas including the A438 between Letton and Willersley and Whitney on Wye. Predicted peaks:- Hay on Wye 3.4m to 3.9 overnight tonight, Bredwardine 5.4m to 5.9m from 02:00 on 21/02/22. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours.
“We expect river levels to remain high until 22/02/22. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and checking defences. Please avoid contact with flood water and move possession and valuables off the ground or to safety. This message will be updated by 7pm Sunday 20/02/22, or as the situation changes.”
