Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that four children initially reported at the scene of a fire in Leominster on Monday, are all safe and well.

Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to a building fire on Etnam Street on Monday afternoon, with smoke seen rising from the area.

A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service provided Your Herefordshire with the following update:

“Five Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – two from Hereford and one each from Leominster, Kingsland and Tenbury Wells Fire Stations – plus the incident command unit and drone from Wyre Forest were called to a house fire with persons reported in Etnam Street, Leominster at 15:52 on 31 July. 

“The fire was in a derelict building, around 30m by 8m, comprising four flats, one of which, on the first floor, was well alight. 

“The fire was fought using three extended hosereel jets and one main jet with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. 

“Gas and electrics were isolated. Ambulance and police also attended with police taking care of traffic management which was Etnam Street closed in both directions. 

“With the fire extinguished, crews continued damping down hot spots. 

“There were no casualties, with four children initially reported at the scene all accounted for as safe and well. 

“A reinspection was carried out at 03:00 on 1 August before the incident was marked as closed at 03:35.”
